Measles - outbreak in Andalusia, Spain

So far this year, 72 cases of measles have been reported in Andalusia, five of them in the last nine days. To date, a total of 13 outbreaks have been identified, seven of which remain active. Of the reported cases, 26% have been imported, originating from Morocco (17 cases), Belgium (1), and Denmark (1). Among the autochthonous cases, 14 are isolated with no known source of infection, suggesting community transmission of the virus.

Mpox - Spain. Update on the outbrake

In 2025, 72 cases have accumulated. The latest update (March 25, 2025) reports 12 new cases: two from 2024 and 10 from 2025. The clinical and epidemiological characteristics of the recent cases are similar to those of the previous cases. All cases with clade information belong to clade II.

Presence of poliovirus in wastewater in Barcelona Metropolitan Area

Routine microbiological analyses of wastewater at the Besòs Wastewater Treatment Plant have shown the presence of circulating poliovirus. The Department of Health has begun an investigation to detect whether there are infected people in the community.

RSV in Spain - bronchiolitis, unusual increase in cases

Spain reports that one in 56 healthy children under one year of age are admitted for respiratory syncytial virus, which is the main cause of bronchiolitis. There are 40% more cases than in the pre-pandemic era and Covid has changed the epidemiological cycle of viruses.
